Aucuba getting leggy in medium shade.

I have a 4 year old Aucuba Mr. Goldstrike that has been in the ground four years. I bought it in a #5 container I think. It's never taken off. It's leggy -with three stalks, each about 2 feet high, the tops of which have a modest spread of healthy looking leaves.

I don't have great soil, but I do have irrigation. Soil still tends to be on the dry side because there are several trees. I would classify it as medium shade. It gets several hours of dappled afternoon sun and an hour of directin the summer from the overhead oak, and 4 hours direct sun in winter.

Thoughts? No other diseases I can see.
