I would add a more colorful and bigger rug and maybe also the art, change it to something that pops out more.

I think you have too many accessories. Remove those on either side of the art on the mantle for a start and then pare down what's in the bookcases. I think there's too much to look at. Love the colors and the furniture and the light.

I agree about too much to look at on the shelves as well as on the mantelpiece. Begin by removing everything and then adding fist only the green/turquoise objects and maybe some white or silver pieces. No books. I would also remove the silver ornament under the console (put it somewhere on it's own) and put one of the suitcases in it's place. Take a photo and compare with the first one you posted. Should be more restful.

Maybe also group all the yellow ornaments on the console to tie in with the yellow cushions.

How about sliding the sofa over a foot or two, and putting both brown chairs on the far (left) wall, angled toward the room with the round table in between them?

I agree with previous posters. There's just a lot of stuff in this room, and a lot going on. There's no real focal area.

Try to pare down the accessories and small furniture pieces, and replace your artwork over the fireplace with something bold, to really draw your eye there. Doesn't have to be bright color, if that's not your style ... maybe just high contrast/ bold composition?

I would not add anything to the console table.

I think it would also help to bring the two chairs closer in, and maybe angle them towards the sofa, so it's a more welcoming conversation area.

Leslie I did try the chairs together with the round table in between but they are so big that it looks cluttered.

I like how you've decorated your shelves, and don't find it distracting at all. But would remove the items from beside the art on the mantel, and as suggested by Martha, change the rug to something with a bit more colour.
