I agree as well. I chopped off about 2ft of my Manila mango as it was bending over to the ground. It was pretty top heavy and couldn’t support itself. I was worried about it but it branches out and has grown about 13 inches since.

As long as its still summer warm. For those who get tree's in cooler climates or later in the year? Best to wait until its well rooted.

Watching YouTube vids of Mango orchards in Mexico?..lol..if you have a great climate for them,they can take anything- chop tops,yank out of the ground 20' tree's..cut 50 year old tree's to shoulder tall,and graft new variety on huge 12-16" wide branches.

They take all of it happily. As long as its warm and semi humid at least.
