obviously it depends on the budget, the most basic way to go will be changing the color scheme of the house, a step up will be windows and roof color. You can also consider modern horizontal siding on part of the house. Modern landscaping and concrete stepping stone ... What's your budget?

Your budget would help give us an idea of what kind of "modern" you're talking about.

If you have the money, there are many things that can be done:

• Change roof color to med. gray to go with brick, the brown clashes.

• Add porch to house with roof and modern railings

• Change front door color and style to more modern, less "craftsman" look

• Add more visible landscape/hardscape accents like pergola or large rocks in the garden (garden looks all one level, it needs more "architecture" in it, large rocks help this.)

• Extend concrete in one area and add a sculpture

• Revamp windows, add a larger, more modern window to front of the house

Paint color is the fastest, cheapest way to update a home, especially the brick and front door.
