Thank you Beth. After painting our room from white to grey, we feel our room is dark. Any suggestions on brightening the room?

maybe the white chair covers would help out. you have white window coverings that are bright. do you leave them up during the day? The only other option that might help is a mirrored console or hanging a mirror on another wall to bounce around some light.

Grey seems to suck all of the light away. Last year we repainted our office a few different shades of grey and in our workroom we added additional cans. I would live with the paint for a few weeks and see if you still think it is dark. Maybe look for a buffet lamp or additional can lights.

I would suggest you give yourself some time as you were used to white. I would not recommend painting the bottom half white - will make the room too traditional and I would actually paint the chair rail the same color as the walls, for a sleeker updated look. I would remove the table runner and accessorize the table and buffet with modern various glass vases, candlesticks or lanterns.

I like Judy's idea of adding a mirror and/or mirrored surfaces, especially if they will reflect the light from that fabulous chandelier.

I'd love to see a splash of BOLD color. One simple item - like a vase.

I love the room and the art, but the art darkens the room more than the paint to me. Though I don't find the room that dark personally.
