Could you post the recipe or source for it please?

Some recipes do call for apple cider, and some for cider vinegar- usually the recipe makes that clear.

If it was for vinegar then it would say vinegar specifically since the two are very different things. Most mincemeat recipes I am familiar with do not contain either one. But a few do call for apple cider so the odds are they mean apple cider.

But it is impossible to know for sure when the question is taken out of the context of the recipe.

Brandies fruit mincemeat from bernadin complete book of home preserving:

8cups tart apples

4cups cranberries

2and3/4cups golden raisins

2cups dark raisins

2and1/4cups dried currents

2and 1/2cups chopped dried figs

1and 1/3cups grounded seeded oranges

1 cup grounded seeded lemon

1cup mixed candied (glanced) perl

2 cups lightly packed brown sugar

4 cups cider

1tbsp cinnamon

2tsp allspice

2tsp nutmeg

1tsp ground cloves

1tsp ground ginger

3/4 cup brandy

1/2 cup dry Sherry

I have made the original recipe from Bernardin and they specifically state "apple cider". No vinegar.
