click on the three I posted. see if you like any of those. you really need some sort of color or pattern. and yes, jute is a bit rough on the feet. you could layer it with something else on top if you wanted. like a hide rug or something

Your kitchen and your home are beautiful! I would go with a rug that uses softer colors. Something bright and bold and vibrant would not be aesthetically pleasing to the space.

Jodi, that first one I have is only $150. pretty cheap for a rug that size. I like that particular pattern and color for your space.

Another option is one in a black and white like this one from Joanna Gaines.

Hello. If I chose a rug for this space, then I would choose a round rug of high pile light color. I would place this rug about a sofa, under a coffee table.

In my opinion, such rug would approach best of all and would create a cosiness.

I like a neutral rug. It is hard to tell. The pattern may give it enough interest. A lot of gray though, and maybe a little dark. Some recommend getting the smallest size rug first and testing it in your space, and makng sure you have free returns if ordering online. I think Canada has some homestores or similar, you might browse the rugs and find a great deal.

Having kids and dogs I would pick something you love but if it is damaged you can replace without breaking your budget. In my world of kids and dogs rugs get a lot of wear and tear so I only but within a strict budget.

You can definitely layer rugs. If you want to get a neutral rug and a fun rug, why not?
