you can get a small single unit combination washer/dryer that is ventless and just needs water drain and electric most home improvement stores sell the online not normally found in stores. we are considering getting one for my 84 mother for the same reason

I don't know what your specific requirements are but I found this on a quick search on the Internet. You might look further for condo sized units. These look like they would fit in a small closet.

Here is one.

Just be aware that the combo washer/condensing dryers take a loooooong time to do a cycle.

I have the miele washer dryer combo. they each are just 24" wide, and the dryer drains into the washer, so it doesn't require venting. I really like the pair.
The downside is that it wasn't cheap- I think about double the cost of a traditional, mid range pair.

Piggy backing on the comment about washer/dryers, we had that when we lived in Europe and I hated it. The dryer cycle doesn't really dry, it is more like a super spin cycle, so be careful what you get. I think I would get an apartment size front load washer and a small dryer to set on top of the washer for a dryer. Just depends on how much laundry you do. Sheets are probably biggest challenge. Maybe a friend could help with those?

I don't know if you can stand, but I also have a spinal cord injury. I had a W/D downstairs and cant do the stairs with a laundry basket. I can walk up and down stairs, I just can't carry anything major up or down as I have to hold onto the bannister. I put a stackable washer/dryer upstairs, Electrolux and so far so good. I love having a unit on each floor, no more worry about the laundry. For the upstairs, I put in a floor drain and tiled the entire space about six inches up. Also reinforced the area and put in insulation.

Please let us know if you got association approval. I think your request is required under the ADA.

The approval has already been granted . IMO the only solution is an all in one but to really function properly they need to be vented and that is where the problem arises in Europe they are often put where they can’t be vented and hence the poor drying quality. I would contact Miele to see if they have an answer for that problem now.
