Bathroom disaster

We bought a walk in shower kit for our small basement bathroom. The plumber installed the pan but the contractor says the back wall is too big to get into the bathroom. They tried, bit couldn't get it turned. He said he could put tile on the walls instead. My question is, how does the tile get attatched to the lip of the shower pan?

It is done all of the time. The bottom row of tiles sits on top of the pan with the small lip behind the tiles -- hard to explain without a visual but it is do-able. You'll need to keep the silicone seal in good shape because moisture can get in there but you don't have to worry, if installed properly, about water running back there.
