you need to divide off the green shoots and only let shoots with a good mix of variegation stay. the green shoots will eventually out pace the variegated ones and you will soon have an all green plant. once you have a fairly stable variegated plant continue to split them and keep the best of the best. eventually after some culling you will end up with a nice variegated clump. providing you had a decent variegated shoot to start with.

How big should I let the shoots get before I do a nature assassination ...one leaf...two...three or should it varigate before it even opens?...I really hate to chop them down but I want the full effect.

I usually cut it off if the second leaf does not show color. Most of mine, after culling, will have color on the new spike pushing out. continue to cull until you have a very strong bunch then its not needed nearly as much
