Perhaps bamboo would be a bit casual for this look.

If you want the room to be darkened for sleeping, I recommend bamboo or woven wood shades with a blackout liner. Blinds will not block out the light, there will be lots of light gaps.

If blackout isn't a priority, I recommend child-safe cordless 2" blinds. They should have the tilt controls to the outside of the window, i.e. one left control and one right control. Be careful how the treatment operates. You don't want to have to climb onto the bed to adjust the window treatment.

The room appears to not have any defined wood or white finishes. You could use either for the nightstands.
