I have 3 that badly need potting up. They are in the 2 year plus age outdoors. Maybe next spring I can put an apple near them,get them going.

I should try the mini greenhouse -nice idea.

I have a few different types, some ornamental and others of the usual edible types.

This one has red leaves in the sun but stays green in the shade (mine's growing in shade now). The fruit comes out red though, even when immature. It's considered an ornamental.

And one with variegated leaves, puts out a lot of suckers.

And the usual edible ones, don't know which variety, they just came from tops that happened to be around.

Both Lowe's and Home Depot sell greenhouse kits. I don't know about OSH.

The colors on those are just so striking! I have seen small GH at those places as well.

Bigger pot=bigger fruit. I know I need to go upwards with mine.

They do need the right conditions, otherwise they'll live to a very ripe old age without ever flowering. Suitable for growing isn't necessarily suitable for flowering.

Mine fruit every year, and every year I have more of them lol. They make a good large ground cover here and need little care but they burn up right away in the intense sun. They're only grow for me in dappled sun.

The first one went out a few days ago. This is the earliest I have ever put out pineapples.

Its been warm backeast...all the cold is west. Why we never can seem to warm the whole country is a mystery.

Apples...are why the supermarkets put the banana's as far away as they can-lol. Or they ripen faster then can be sold.

It´s the ethylene gas (released for example by apples) which acts as a "ripening hormone".

A pineapple a day keeps the doctor away

Does pee have ethylene gas? Lol! I peed on a pineapple plant in my yard that looked chlorotic last year. It quickly turned a deep green and began blooming. I was amazed. So I did it to another few plants and they all began to bloom! Every one of them! Lol This year I've only peed on one plant and it now has a flower stalk emerging. It's the only one thus far. Coincidence?

Pee is actually a quick acting nitrogen fertilizer, it really works in cases of emergency (a certain dilution is advised, though).

I peed directly on everyone of them last year and not a single one got any burn. In fact they grew exponentially. I was quite shocked and amazed but what shocked me was not their greening up. I peed on the first plant just for that result. What shocked me was how almost immediately they all began to bloom. That I wasn't expecting.

Human urine varies a lot in composition, depending on how much you drink, what you drink, what you eat or drugs you consume, and how active you are. That's why there's different responses in plants from different people.

Well I did kill a gardenia when I peed on it once. But their fine feeder roots are delicate and are very easily damaged. Pineapples are tough and robust in general though.
