Safety Clearances

I need to know safety clearances for a 30,000 BTU LP Gas Heater. I plan to wall mount it, and it is not vented.

Each manufacturer sets minimum clearance specs for its equipment and then (I believe) the building code requirement for clearance typically is to comply with the particular manufacturer's specs.

Your HVAC contractor should be able to help you.

The clearances required are in the installation manual. Mr Heater for example is against the wall on the supplied mount, xx inches from the floor, x inches from a side wall. That style of heater is illegal in some countries and some states in the US.

I checked the manual with the heater. No clearances are given. Seems silly not to include such important information.

The manufacturer may have a website and the instruction manual may be on that site.

    Nothing on the website.

Nothing on the website and you want to install this DYI. Probably a reason there is nothing on the website.

Good thing my friend is a contractor and master plumber. She will be installing it.

Hmm, not vented. I am suspect of this, even if it was in a garage. I believe they have a safety shutoff if too much CO2 is detected so you might be ok. Might want to check it has that first though.

The information is given in the installation manual.

Heater has a safety switch for CO2. Could not locate manual so looked on line. No information on line.

Can provide a make and model number?

Every actually legit sellable combustible appliance has the clearance e requirements either in the manual or online. Even my cheapie from Northern in the barn had clearance instructions.

I’d be very very leery of some likely cheepchinesecrapola ventless product. There are many reasons that lots places do not allow them. If you move forward with this product, you need to buy several carbon monoxide detectors.

If you can find no information online or in print for this heater, what do you expect to do when it breaks? To keep it working correctly you need to know make, model number, and have access to a list of companies who can install and maintain it. Installing and maintaining a gas heater takes some knowledge and experience.
