Your idea sounds great but which wall are you planning on painting obsidian if it’s the one with the doors I would paint the trims white since this will be your accent wall I presume. Did you post before asking about your closets

@Maureen - I like your suggestion about the Color of the ceiling but, there is a small hallway (see pictures) before entering the bedroom that you can see from other parts of the house when the door is open. I think it would look weird to see that the ceiling is a different color than the rest of the house. Do you have any other suggestion? Thanks!

Will you be painting the hall entryway white as well. I think it would look great on the bed wall is there a window on that wall too also are you trying glam it up. By the looks of your walls the color looks like a goldfish tan close to camel fur

I like the charcoal wall behind the bed. yes to the other color. lighten the white by 50% and use that on the ceiling or whatever white the other part of the ceiling is. (unless you plan to paint the ceiling outside the bedroom the same)

Have you considered doing all of the walls dark?

get some crystal knobs for those closet doors. they will look better than what's on there.

@Beth h. I really like the pictures where it shows the charcoal walls including closet doors and trim but as mentioned to Claire, I am not sure I want it to glam it up because it will not match the rest of the house. Does it matter?

There is enough of the separation of walls for that one room to have the dark walls, and the walls in the hallway another shade. (at least based on your drawing). what's the diff? you were going to do one wall gray and the other walls in the white anyway. so now you do the entire room, and the hallway in the white (or lighten the formula by 50% if you want a gray in the hallway) why don't you try it on the back wall and the window wall. the window wall is the only one you will see from hall and since it's mostly windows, it really won't look bad if doing the hallway in the white. does that make sense?

Bedroom walls charcoal
Hallway walls white or lighten up charcoal by 50 %
Ceiling white

So why don’t you bring in the same color in the bedroom with the obsidian...do you know what color the walls are

She saying you can paint these surrounding walls but obsidian if you wanted it would still be a great color scheme and you can paint the ceiling and trims the same as the ceiling

thank you Claire! as for closet doors and trim, up to you. you saw how the doors look painted the same as wall color (do the crystal knobs!)

It's only paint. try the walls first. see if you like the look of the white trim/closet doors. you can always go back and paint them dark.

make sure to bring in some velvet fuchsia somewhere. pillows, that chair, some art work,,, a nice crystal chandelier would glam it up, as would a mirror or mirrored console. you might want to consider getting some mirrored closet doors to help bounce around the light if you choose dark.

I bought white primer :( Can I add a bit of the charcoal that I will use for my walls? I’m asking as by looking at another post, someone mentioned that dark primer should be used before painting a dark color.

It kind of makes sense like that once you paint the actual color on the walls it won’t look as lite

yes,,have them tint your primer as much as allowed. (depends how full the can is w/the white paint. you might want to remove an inch of the white base so they can add their dark tints to it. they will not remove it at the store)

Love the room it’s beautiful. I love the idea of the floor tripod and table lamp. I would pull in the purple curtains a bit to make it look fuller.
