I recently sold an 8 x 11 wool surya rug on Craigslist and used the money to buy a Karastan off Craigslist for the same price. I would replace the rug....It is very pretty but does not go as well with the new coverings.

I agree that the rug doesn't go. I like this one with the sofa and walls, but It may be too much with your patterned chair?

Also, I would consider replacing the coffee table with a smaller one and bring your furniture in a bit tighter.

Hard to give specific advice on this when the pattern/colors on the chair and ottoman are difficult to see. Any chance of a close up photo of that chair fabric?

Love the blue welting! The background color of the pattern and your walls and window treatments would lead me to a rug with yellow and blue in it.

As others have mentioned, new rug and replace the coffee table with something smaller ( as mentioned so you can bring the chairs in a bit) and more airy. I would look at a satin brass with glass top to break up all the wood in the room and either a round or oval shape. Might consider up-grading your sofa pillows after you get the rug figured out. Maybe a nice stripe with fringe. No need to get rid of your game table especially since it is something that you enjoy.

I love the game table by the windows! But, yes, you do need a new rug, if the new upholstery leans to blue, I like the idea of using blue/yellow/gold in the rug. Then new pillows & coffee table would really freshen up the space. Not sure that the floral chair/ ottoman chair works anymore. Can the recliner go there? Or is it used for tv viewing?

Another thought... is the ottoman used? If not ( or not too much) might see how far you could move the chair forward if the ottoman wasn't there or at the very least se how how much it may open that area up a bit.

Yes, getting a new rug and reupholstering that chair with help a lot. It looks so much better at the moment with out the rug underneath.

I suggest a more colorful rug and a light colored coffee table. I'd also update the valances.
