Sorry Beth, I didn't see the first light you posted. Similar to what I just posted. So you don't mind the island pendant lights and the breakfast table light from the same collection? Do I need to hang the sink pendant the same distance from the counter tops as the island pendants? I think we're going to go 30-32 inches from the counters for the island.

I think the dining light is longer? it's fine. as for the sink one, they don't have to be the same distance. whomever is using the sink shouldn't be able to hit their head, or if you raise your arms to get to the window or whatever, you don't want to hit the light. so put it over the sink where ever it's most comfortable for you.

Lol, can you tell I need help? I've "designed" (using that term loosely) the kitchen on my own and because I have trouble making decisions, I've made decisions as I've gone, one at a time. I've narrowed down my backsplash to 2 choices, but I'm still not sure those choices are my favorite, lol. I want to bring a little bit of character into my kitchen, because it's pretty white right now. But I still want it to look light and fresh. I'm 40 with 4 children and I want a traditional/classic look. Sort of that modern farmhouse look that everyone talks about. So here is what I've narrowed it down to. The arabesque will be framed over the stove (it's a pewter color) and either the warm white or white subway tile. I think I'll have the grout lines close to the pewter color for the subway, and lighter grout for the arabesque. I feel like the warmer white tile will give me the more classic look I'm going for, it matches the color of my cabinets and I have Carrara marble.... but this is where I'm having a hard time making a decision.

The lighting is horrible right now as it's dark. But here are my other choices that were taken in the daylight.

So my house is painted accesssible beige and my floors have a provincial/walnut custom stain. My thought was that I needed to bring in some warm to balance the kitchen to match the rest of my house. It feels so white, lol. I know the bronze pendants will help with that too.

you can't put that warm tile against the cool marble. won't work. your other elements will warm it up. the flooring, lights, put out a walnut chopping board and leave on counter. I also don't like the cream tiles next to the marble. doesn't work

I don't know about the accent behind stove. normally those only work well with a larger expanse. your's is not.

but thats not a carrara countertop. those warm cream tones will clash w/yours. goes great w/the cabinets, just not your counter. since the tile is married to that, it has to work. I don't care for the bulky frame tiles around it, but the design is nice. WalkerZanger prob has some similar. you also have your SS vent hood, so keep that in mind.

yeah the encore is no cheap date. I want to say 35 a sq foot?

Here is the flowers with the grout from the tile store. I really do like it, but I can't do it in my whole kitchen. I have about 50sq ft to tile. I have more counter top space beside the fridge :)

I'm so confused, because I see a kitchen like this with the same basic color scheme (cabinets, marble, floors) and it's using the silver crackle. I think it gives it just enough color, but stays fairly classic. But we're not spending $35 a sq ft on tile

so, cheaper options. pick one of your expensive marble ones for the stove. (you will have people that hate this option on here) do everything else in the white (not cream) larger (not 3x6) subway tiles.

Lol, thank you! I keep staring at it (it's actually the dove gray arabesque that you posted) and I have the same color subway on order. I just have a feeling it will be too dark for me. But here it is in the store. I need to find a retailer near me that carries the encore tile, although I think it's going to be more that I want to spend. I'm in Charlotte, NC.

We just purchased this house a year ago and ripped out the '99 orange oak kitchen, so anything is better than what we had We refinished the floor when we moved in and this is the day before the ugly kitchen went bye bye

Update! Lights are up. I went ahead and installed the 3rd pendant over the sink, just higher. Not sure if I'm loving that one, but the rest make such a difference in my space :)

Of course the link to the bottom that is a good price is out of stock, lol. I have this Carrara arabesque at my house currently. It's a contender. This one is $18.75 sq ft, so it was just be over the stove.

But this arabesque is antique white and it's $7 a sq foot, so I could possibly do the whole kitchen in it. (Disregard the subway tiles, they don't match, lol)

that white ceramic is not a good match next to your stone. it's too creamy.

I know you can find cheaper marble arabesque. Did you look at builder depot? they have some around $10 in the marble. it's the first link

these are $17,, in stock. btw,,,their marble is a true Carrara marble. only marble quarried from Carrara Italy can be called carrara marble.

pretty much any marble that has to be cut in a pattern like this, is going to be about around the 15+ range. If you choose a carrara subway tile, you can come in at $7 or so. doing that and then the accent over the stove would be ok since it's all in marble. what about doing that?
