Sounds like it would work - two suggestions though - have the coffee table that converts into a dining table ( so does both jobs) and choose furniture that's comfortable but not over big !! Like Ercol retro style - as this is more in keeping with kitchen rooms !

If it suits your life style than go for it. I am just curious to know where is your entrance to the house. Is your house a walk-out? It seems that the kitchen is on the second floor.

Thanks for the replies. There is a finished rec room in the basement off the garage, so yes, the kitchen is on the second floor.

I'm having difficulty picturing a coffee table, which usually sits lower to the ground, the converts to a dining table. Also, where would the dining chairs go?

I having a finished basement, but I would rather having the living space closer to the bedrooms. The home is 2470 sq ft so I'm not lacking room which requires convertible furniture.

Ok ! Forget that idea Then ! Lol ! Well why not just pick what suits your taste and the room sizing and go with your instincts ?! I'm sure it will turn out just great !
