Is it a bath shared by guests, or other bedrooms, also?

Building the dream home with your two little guys? Bliss :) Enjoy

Every additional bathroom boosts resale. If it's a forever home perhaps you don't care. But I'd give any potential guest their OWN BATH ( and en suite is very nice ) , at least when they visit. Depends your budget .

A new three bedroom home today, with resale in mind, needs three 1/2 baths if at all possible, and a four bedroom should not have less than three 1/2. Better now than a big reno up the road. Sharing went out of favor : ) Luxury homes give every bedroom its own bath, even if small scale 5 x 8 for kids and guest.

I dislike J&J bathrooms they are a hassle no one ever remembers to lock the doors kids fight over them IMO this is the time to get it right and I would do 2 bathrooms.

Jack and Jill is a royal PIA. Either do a shared hall bath, or individuals.

If I was the one doing the cleaning I would do a good size shared hall bath. Even if I was not doing the cleaning I think children can learn something from sharing a bathroom with a sibling. If they go away to college they are going to have to share. Better they learn how to do that at home.

It’s only gross that you have to clean, if they don’t clean it. Even a 7 year old can scrub a toilet. And should. It’s a a life lesson that every child should have early.

When house shopping, I personally passed on a few nice homes that had the JJ bathrooms. If you have the chance, one per bedroom would be my opinion.

J&J are great if the double door part opens to the vanity area only and doesn't lock!

My sister has full bathrooms in all three of her spare bedrooms. It is so nice to not have to share. She lives right on the gulf and does a lot of entertaining. She is such a doll she never complains about cleaning all those bathrooms!

This is a first world problem if ever I heard one ;)

I have two boys and personally, I would have them share. But in this market, it’s almost unheard of for the number of bathrooms to equal the number of bedrooms (very old historic homes here). If that’s normal in your market, perhaps you would regret not doing it.

    Have fun designing!

I personally loathe J and J bathrooms - reminds me of college dorm suites. I would say either a hall shared bath or ensuites.

If you have the budget/space, ensuites for everyone!

It might be enough to expect that they grab toilet paper to clean up the worst of it....
