Unless the concrete is fresh, substances might have been spilled or otherwise have gotten into existing concrete that would hamper the epoxy from bonding properly. We use this stuff a lot for concrete and stone:

As a general rule, the best finishes for a porous surface, like wood or concrete, sit flush with the finish surface and only act as a sealant, they don't sit on top. I've floor epoxy work well and I've seen it peel off like bad paint.

Cheesy Vegas lounge look in a barn is not a workable style concept. A good epoxy will not be cheap. But it will look like it is.

Yeah, I worried about the lounge look...am finding images on line that do not fit our style. I loved the fact that the epoxy could, from what I was told, cover many of the concrete blemishes and would be easy to maintain, would not scratch off or need to be waxed or re-waxed, etc. Looks like I'll be sticking to the original plan to stain the concrete.

Epoxy is both long lasting and visually appealing. The metallic finish your referencing is a newer style look that makes a nice finish for garages or interior spaces that will be seen on regular basis.
