Has anybody tasted one of these? What do you think?

I have not tasted one but I ordered one from Logees in June on a whim when I got my blood lime (what I thought was a red finger lime) since I had 20% off, I also got rooted cuttings of makrut lime and a pondersoa lemon and only the makrut has put out significant growth. The VS is a small tree and hasn't grown for me yet but it was a tough summer so I can't blame it, the description sounds intriguing though so I will be excited when I eventually get fruit.

I love the flavor and scent of vanilla and was just wondering how vanilla and citrus tastes together which I have read about.

Does Harris have sales or discounts?

I haven't ever seen any sales on Harris but I don't know for sure. Logees is running that 20% off right now through Saturday if you wanted to order from them. (see my most recent post) I assume that Harris' trees are larger/better though I didn't see the VS listed as something they sold.

I have one from Logees also that has grown and bloomed, but I’m unsure it will hold fruit as it is still small.

I have not tasted one yet, but I was sold by the description of the fruit having vanilla nuances. I read a lot of reviews from people who have tried the fruit and most either loved it or found it to be flavorless and insipid due to lack of acidity. Hopefully someone on the forum who has one and tasted it will respond. Keep in mind that everyone's taste buds and sensors are different.

Harris does not carry the Vaniglia Blood. I asked Ruth about it this past spring. I ordered a premium size from Four Winds and was sent a tree that was not in great shape. I was told afterwards that the small group of trees that they had were not in good shape and that they were taking the premium size off of their website. Three days later they took it off. They do have a small size available though..

    www.fruitmentor.com/vaniglia-sanguigno-juice-is-astonishingly-delicious-blended-with-limequat-juice

Definitely on my "if I ever find myself with extra space for growing citrus" list.

Great idea, adding limequat for acid.

Thank you for the review. I'm wondering if the tree was still too young? Not the right fertilizer?

I found these oranges the other day at a local supermarket and decided to try them. What I observed is basically like as lydia_nz described. It is definitely acidless. It just tastes sweet with a strange, fragrant aftertaste the resembles vanilla. I think the most important thing when eating it is to forget that it's even an orange because it sure doesn't taste like one. It does have a very pretty pinkish orange color though.

This is an old thread, but I just tasted the fruits from my own tree that I bought 2 years ago. I love the fruits!! They are acid less with hints of tropical flavor, not exactly vanilla. Depends if you like tropical fruit flavor or not, if you do, this is a must have! I am going to buy more of this tree.

I commented on this thread a while ago and since have tasted an orange from my tree. We definitely liked it quite a bit.

I tasted and liked this orange very much. My daughter liked this orange as well. Any person does not like sourness will like this orange. My mom does not like this acidless orange. She is the type of person who likes Lee x Nova. She perfers LeexNova mandarin over this acidless orange. She says this orange does not taste like orange. Orange to her has to have sourness and tart.

I had a couple this weekend and the one I tasted hit you on the front end of vanilla and then berry undertones on the backend. I was actually shocked at how it didnt taste citrus like but how much of the vanilla and berry came through. I am actually having a couple sent up from Madison Citrus next week. I cant wait to have more of them. My step son even tried it and his only response was This is what "fruit" should taste like. Here is a photo of the one I tried at the Southeastern Citrus Expo this past weekend.
