I am going to be no help..I like both. Will wood trim be painted white or stained?

Not crazy at all. I like the wood cabs with wood floor. That first photo has big windows letting in lots of light. Do you have good light in your kitchen? The counters and backsplash light would look great.

I detest wood cabinets as they always look like cheap reproduction furniture to me. But that's me and I think there still may be more wood cabinets sold than painted, so clearly I'm not speaking for the majority.

If you like that look, do what you like. If you hate them later, you can paint them. You cannot remove the paint and stain them later.

The wooden cabinets in you top picture look lovely. I am sure you can achieve a similar look with some careful planning with your friends here at GW.

I have wood on wood. I love the look, but you might want a bit more contrast than in the first pic. I would go with a lighter wood floor if you are going with that cabinet.

I have 2 toned. I like stained wood, but I thought that it would feel heavy in my small space, like I was surrounded by brown. So I did uppers and tall in white.

I think all stained wood looks best if there is a lot of light and windows. OK maybe all kitchens are best with lots of light and windows :)

We do have quite a bit of light - big kitchen over the sink and a large double window in the eat-in area. I just feel so silly that I can't decide something as simple as what color cabinets I like. We are meeting with several design and build companies over the next week to get estimates and I'm embarrassed that something that should be so simple is driving me crazy! I think it will be easier once I see some samples in person maybe? A friend of mine says that once I pick the floor color and then look at the cabinet choices against it, it will be easier to decide.

I have wood floors and wood cabinets and will do it again if I ever need to do another kitchen. I do have light counters and backsplash. To some degree, location can affect what a person likes. With many months of gray or snowy days, I find my warm toned kitchen a haven. If I lived in a warmer climate, I might prefer cooler white cabinets.

So we have wood on wood, too. My cabinets and floors look almost the same as in your top pic and I LOVE them and the overall look. I agree that having lots of windows/ light may be a key factor in how much I love the look. I do not find it at all dark. Our countertops are a cream granite (Blanco Romano) so there’s lots of contrast there. We have white trim on doorways and white crown molding. We opened up the kitchen to our dining room and living room, so I really liked having cabinets that looked more like my vintage walnut furniture than white cabinets would. Also we have 2 8’ sliders in the kitchen that open to a wooded ravine, so it’s like the wood stained cabinets are also part of our great outdoors. I’m in a northern climate....Ontario, Canada...so maybe I just like the cosy woodsy effect that suits our climate (and our house).

if our home were in Florida or Maine or California, I would probably have a different opinion.

Who says that? You just have to find compatible tones that please you, and wood cabinets with wood floors are beautiful. You have a ton of light in that space, so there's no reason to go white if you prefer wood. This is our previous kitchen where we did wood/wood and light countertops.

Thanks for articulating that, lisapoi! I have a very traditional looking home with my grandmother's walnut dining set and lots of beautifully framed antique prints. We have a brick front colonial home and 4 distinct rooms on the main level, though they all open onto each other through doorways which is why we want one (hardwood) flooring throughout.
