Ficus Nitida Columns

I've got a bunch of 1 gallon ficus nitida that I've replanted in 5 gallon nursery containers with stakes.

I'm wanting to train them into the columns that all the nurseries have, in preparation for continuing my hedge line.

What is the best way to form these columns?

Ive got them tied off to the stakes, should I lightly prune lateral branches to a node, or lightly prune back the leader shoot to encourage fullness before letting them grow upwards?

im sort of lost as to how these columns are trained and the pruning process throughout their growing cycle. I'm just looking to get a nice column that's filled out nicely from top to bottom.

thank you, Bryan
