What size are you harvesting asparagus? I was taught that the best pieces are the finger-thick ones and that I need to leave some good size stems unharvested in order to build up the plant for next year's harvest. Also I should leave the skinniest ones to grow and build up the plant.

A few years ago, I noticed that the imported asparagus was skinny as can be. Are the big growers just really pushing the harvest, or do buyers consider the skinny pieces better?
