Angela, the orchid is too tall, sorry. The pot's tall also, maybe a shorter pot?

STK, re-gentrification? Is that what it's called? And good for you for taking the action you're taking. Only good can come from it! Take your Vicodin, rest, be well.

EZ, I sent David another email but haven't heard a thing yet. I'll let everyone know if I do.

Well, we sold the old TV for $100 to a mom and her 12 y/o who are just starting out again. I thought the boy was going to die with happiness. That felt really good and I hope they get many years of use from it!

Bobbi-I knew that it was too tall, I had it in the corner and not on table. But wanted you to see it.
Yes! It's the perfect corner plant :))
I have a lot of space in the corner.
Well, going to go do some homework and watch this basketball game.
bobbi!!! Your garden bench is just AWESOME!
Awww! Thank you Kimdee! Kinda groovy, huh?
It's really great, bobbi! I love it a lot!
Thank you, I appreciate hearing that from you!
I missed it earlier, you all were so active today while I was out!
    Well my team just lost.
Well, mostly finished up at my moms today. She's got a huge pie lot whose size is almost unheard of in the location she's in. Unfortunately, that's an awful lot of space for dandelions to go crazy. I think we went through close to 30 recycle bags for all the lawn and garden waste. I still have to make a trip to the dump and the recycle station, but at least the lawn is manageable now.

Bobbi - love the garden bench!

Angela - love the table. The chairs go perfectly!

Robin, you are just on a dandelion war these days! Nice of you to help your mom with her lawn. How's your grandma doing?
I love this time of year... I have the patio door open and I can hear the frogs croaking on the lake behind me. It's like being in the country... in the city.
Good night guys. Everyone have a good night.
    You too Angela.

Last I heard she was being transferred to a larger hospital. She lives in a small farm town in southern Alberta, but their hospital is a pretty basic almost clinic. They couldn't handle her there (complex medical issues). I'm thinking about taking a drive tomorrow to see her, but its almost 6 hours each direction.
Not that I haven't done it in one day before...
    Good thoughts for her, Robin...
Just got home from a wedding dance...knew the Groom's Mom, and pretty much no one else!! So anyhow...Jay got a dance with the bride which was pretty sweet and made his day!!
@Robin...Hope your Grandma does better very soon!!! :) Thinking of you!!!
Kimdee... go look at my "idea book" I put the picture in there just for you... :-)

Best concert? Has to be a toss up between Jimmy Buffet or Kiss... I have only been to one for Kiss (several years ago) and several for Jimmy.... He is just fun... Worst.... Neal Young... He was drunk or something... couldn't even sit on his stool without falling off.... We left early... Another awesome show was Ian Anderson...

Haven't been to a concert for years (obviously)....

There are so many people I would love to see... But I don't do well with a lot of people around me... Maybe being so short?....
Robin... I hope you can see her... And, I pray for both of you...
Angela... Great choice on the table and chairs... I think you will be happy with them...
Patty, don't be concerned with being short at a concert! Just make sure you get front row seats!

I've never been a big fan of Andrea Bocelli; my feeling is that if he weren't blind, he'd just be "another average singer". I thought that Freddie was an incredible showman, not just a singer, and I have seen a Queen tribute band a couple of times. I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to pay, to see the current Queen, if they got to the east coast; I'm still in awe that Brian May has a PhD in astrophysics, and was Chancellor of a Liverpool university for 5 years!

Love Jerry Vale, and if you like "Goodfellas", I'm sure you'll remember this:
I wish I could've seen Queen! What's your favorite song of theirs, Astraea?

    Did you open 6/2?
"Bohemian Rhapsody", of course! :) I decided to look at "This Week on Houzz" first .. haven't started 6/2.
Of course! hehehe Ok, I'll open 6/2
astraea, despite the evil of Goodfellas, it was a well made movie with a great soundtrack!

I actually heard Andrea Bocelli sing before I knew he was blind. However, sighted or not, he would never be considered "average" by any means.

BTW, have you seen "A Bronx Tale?" Another tough but interesting mob movie with a good soundtrack.
"Sonny had 5 fingers, but he only used 3 of them," is my favorite line. Spoken by "C" about Sonny shaking his hand when he spoke, with only his pinky, index finger and thumb extended.
I think that Bocelli tries to be everything to everyone; he's a good singer, but he'd never be a star at the Metropolitan Opera.

I've never seen "A Bronx Tale"; next time it's on TV ..

I still can't believe that Lorraine Bracco, who started as the innocent girlfriend & then wife of Henry Hill, in "Goodfellas", wound up being Tony Soprano's psychotherapist on "The Sopranos"!
Yeah, she was good in both parts! A very unusual voice I think. Bronx Tale is on fairly often on Spike. DeNiro looks really good and plays a nice hardworking dad. It is a very nostalgic film for people of a certain age, lol. Especially for ex-NYers like my family!

so many great concerts. one of the best was a blues fest seeing stevie ray vaughn, BB king and many other greats all in one night.

joe cocker and jethro tull put on great shows.

joni mitchell was a big disappointment. she came out in an open ampitheatre concert setting and did more of laid back lounge show.
phil collins was very rude and bitched about the low turn out. so guess what, alot of us left!
Wow, so not classy Phil. Maybe that is why his turnout was so low.
I remember my grandmother talking about how she and a bunch of women went to see Bob Hope. He didn't sell out, so he walked off the stage. He likes a BIG audience.
    Wow, what a diva.
i used to love to go to comedy shows, large or small. saw robin williams do his 1st ever outdoor evening. he didn't know til arrival that it was an outdoor venue. he was so quick with adlibs to the unexpected sights and sounds. it was a great show.
i've always been poitically conservative and more so the older i get. now i can't stand to listen to or support limousine liberals and that seems to be the category for the majority of comedians. in fact a high % in all celebrities.
I saw Paula Poundstone once, before she got famous. Hilarious!
awh , hate to hear that about bob hope. like when i read gorgeous clark gable had dentures and bad breath and actresses dreaded love scenes with him. so many illusions shattered. such is life
  • 12 years ago
bobbi, i saw her too 10 or 12 yrs ago. funny gal. now she's on NPR some saturday mornings
  • 12 years ago
Yes! Not to mention the Rock Hudson illusion! Has to be one of the biggest of all time!
It's a shame that some celebrities are the exact opposite of the public personna they've created. Years ago a friend of my Mom saw Bing Crosby in the airport; didn't even recognize him because he was bald, and when someone pointed him out to her, he couldn't be bothered giving her an autograph.

Yet there are celebs whose public personna I don't like - Joan Rivers, for example - and they're wonderful, generous & caring people in real life!
That is why it is better to NOT know, lol. And also why some musicians and actors should keep their political views to themselves. I would rather not be thinking or disliking their politics, I just want to hear them sing!
It's a shame that some voters give a celebrity's political opinions more weight than other people, just because they like their music or parts they play .. there's rarely a connection between political savvy & entertaining skills! I would certainly have given my eye teeth to attend a Republican event with Charlton Heston, or even Ted Nugent today!
So true. My husband was a huge Springsteen fan, until he started spending his time talking politics. Hasn't bought any of his music in years now because of it.
Springsteen is a perfect example of DIAspoton's "limousine liberals"! "Man of the people" in jeans & checkered shirt .. then you find all the properties he owns within trusts & with other names! Nothing in Monmouth County is in his name, but when you look up his "Stone Hill Trust", there are more than a dozen properties of almost 400 acres, valued at almost $26 million!!
Ted Nugent! Now THERE'S a HUBBA!!!
Bobbi - Don't think he's swinging around in a loin cloth anymore! :))
    Better yet!
exactly astrea. michael moore is probably the absolute biggest hypocrite ever. yet people actually believe his
'documentaries' and pay hard earned dollars to see them.
Well, today is the Primary Election in New Jersey. I decided to take a break, and am not a poll worker this time .. I couldn't face getting up early enough to be "at work" at 5:15 am! At least the weather is nice; Monday was horrible .. rain on & off all day .. I heard that between Sunday & Monday, some places got up to 3" of rain!
