My suggestions. Paint entire body of house same color ( dark grey) including garage door. White trim and a colorful front door. Lose the storm door.
I hate to yes to cutting down a healthy tree but it isn't the best spot. The small tree is in a much better position. Take out those bushes and the pavers. A new side walk and bigger flower bed in front of house (up against the house. )

Paint the house and garage one color (I would pick something that is muted and soft and natural like taupe,or khaki-green which will make it blend in a little more and deemphasize the smaller size). If your budget allows, get a better garage door (think something like a Clopay architectural type) and keep it the same color as the rest of the house--it will unify it all and will provide some texture and detail so it the house doesn't look like a shed. Remove the screen door and put in a nice wood door that is a similar style as the garage door--keep it a wood tone that will compliment the house color. Finally, remove or re-paint the bench to go with the new color scheme of the house. That will all serve as a backdrop for almost any type of landscaping you want.

I like your modest modern home. I think it would look great if you emphasized the modern shed style roof like the insp pic above ^. Note the walkway - straight lines without the curved cottage elements. Agree that the tree needs to go

There’s room for improvement but please keep the tree. It really makes a difference on hot summer days and it looks like in the winter it looses the leaves. Looks friendly and inviting.

Agree with painting all same color, unifies the look plus square off the rounded (grass beds or flower beds?) which modernizes the look as well. Good Luck!

Some minimal tweaks like a new paint scheme (no blue) a new front door, a new garage door and some new landscaping would take this "very modest" home to be the star of the neighborhood. You could sell it or rent it. Remember people decide on a home in less than 30 second so curb appeal is important. I would redo the sidewalk also but thought that might be getting into more than you want to spend and don't take out the tree,

When you have the tree taken out, have the company remove the two old shrubs near the curb, too. It'll take them a few minutes with their big equipment, but hours if you did it by hand yourself.

A light sage green would be a good paint color with dark green or terracotta trim. The gray trend is past its prime in my area, YMMV. If you are selling in a couple years, curb appeal will be important. Cost effective improvements outside would be landscaping and new paint. If you decide to rent it, the sturdier the landscaping plants, the better.
