To paint or limewash...(with cold weather approaching)

We are renovating a large red brick home. Our plan and hope all along has been to paint the exterior brick a soft creamy (not yellowish) white. We are now facing colder weather with the likelihood of rain or snow in the near future which may postpone our exterior brick painting. I'm now considering lime washing the brick. I would like to know the following:

Can lime washing achieve a painted look on brick?

How can I find someone to lime wash? My contractor doesn't know of anyone.

Can I lime wash the home in late fall/early winter with cold temps hovering around mid 40's?

What are the pros and cons of painting vs lime wash-ing the exterior red brick?

(a) I wouldn't mess with red brick, as there's no going back and it's a classic and low-maintenance surface.

(b) lime washing is like whitewashing, in that it's not a uniform opaque finish like paint is.

(c) you might also consider stain, which is likely to require less maintenance than paint is.

(d) I know nothing about the weather issues. but I encourage you again to see (a)...

Maybe a house painter would be able to help. They do not recommend painting below 50 degrees, so maybe exterior lime washing would follow the same cautions.

I would not paint the brick but if you absolutely have to you should consider a German smear. A more authentic approach to toning down the red.

Try Limelike. It’s a product that you can use to Lime wash your house yourself. I just got a sample and tested it and it seems to be more solid than a traditional line wash. I got the Dark Ash color and No brick is showing through.
