When was it planted? And how was it watered this past summer?. Offhand, I'd say you are looking at severe drought stress that the plant is unlikely to recover from (important to note that excess water - root rots - can produce a very similar appearance).

I don't know when it was originally planted (more than 3 years ago) but we moved it a couple months ago. It's had an orange appearance for as long as we've been here, just not quite this severe. Our soil is mostly sand and drains very quickly so I'm pretty sure it wasn't getting enough water. Even though it's been well watered since we moved it the stress of moving might have been too much. I think an Umbrella Pine was the wrong plant for our soil to begin with. I hate to give up on a plant if there's the slightest chance it will survive, but this looks like a lost cause.

My guess is they won't even be able to identify it.
