"I'd like to remodel" could mean anything from a little paint to a complete gut job. What are your goals? What do you like or dislike about the current space? What is your budget?

You're extremely limited by space. That is, you could maybe put cuter fixtures in the place of some or all current ones, but you're not getting a radical transformation (i.e., no double vanity)...

The goal is to do a complete gut job. I'd like to stay around 5K. I'd like to replace the vanity with something that makes the room not look even smaller than it is, a new toilet, different tiles floors and some tiles on the walls.

What Natalie said would be great assuming you can flip the plumbing for the two easily, which will depend on your foundation. You won't be able to afford those materials, but you could do a nice, simple subway tile and maybe a darker floor tile. A penny tile could be cute. What style do you like?

I threw the last one in (I was looking at a reno) to show you can do an affordable tub/insert if you plan on using curtain, splurge on some great tile for floor and a nice vanity, few accessories and you could have a great new bathroom!

Id suggest a BUDGET overhaul . One poster speaks to "flipping plumbing. !

How much have you set aside for permits alone. ? If the bathroom has even one wall that is exterior you my opt to rethink the projec/budgett.

no flipping plumbing. do you have DIY skills? because your budget is VERY tight. A not terribly ornate bathroom could easily run three times that, depending on where you live and what finishes you choose (hint: ceramic tile, not marble!)...

Wouldn't the layout of the bathroom be best if we flipped the plumbing? We happen to have a family member that is a plumber... so truly considering it.

I absolutely hate looking at vanities... took a trip to HD and all of them seem like they are made super cheap so now I'm worried about ordering online!

We have minimal DIY skills, but have a friend that is going to do the work for a fair price. I just have to decide on tile, vanity, mirror, and toilet!

If you can afford to flip the plumbing, do it. I think what acm is saying is that it is typically expensive and you don't have a large budget. If you have professional friends who are going to give you discounts, then you may be able to. Changing plumbing depends greatly on your foundation type. Do you know what type of foundation you have?

We have a crawlspace foundation.

DON'T look for a vanity at HD or Lowes, unless you want something cheaply made! I recently purchased this all hardwood, grey vanity from Cabinets To Go, at a very good price! As others have mentioned, I found my vanity and a painting first, tile, wall color, etc., came after.

We also have a small bathroom that we remodeled a few years back and I couldn't be happier with it. I like your gray/white color scheme. You can add color with rugs, towels and maybe a shower curtain and the color would be easy to change if you get tired of it. My bathroom is mostly black and white, but I did use some color tile and I really wish I hadn't.

I like the idea of switching the vanity and toilet, especially since you have a plumber in the family. Have you thought about repainting or refacing your vanity and having a new top made? We had a Corian top made and repainted our existing vanity. I'm perfectly happy with how it turned out.

Once you get pretty new tile put up around your bathtub, you can leave the shower curtain pulled to the side to make the space feel not so cramped. This would also let in some light from your window. I wish I had a window in my bathroom.

Lastly, looking at your grab bar made me wish I had thought to have one installed during our remodel. We don't need one now, but probably will eventually. Something we didn't think about.

I would do a lot of research...look at bathrooms on line, save pictures - combinations, style of bathroom, tile, vanities, fixtures, lighting, etc. You'll start to get a sense of direction. Consider if moving the toilet/vanity is worth it/make a difference to functionality. If door swings in, can it be reversed or add a pocket door to provide more space. Consider adding a glassed in tub which will make the room feel larger and light will filter from the window. What style vanity do you like? Are there any in the pictures above you like? I got a modern wall mount at Wayfair that works great.

The vanity that you posted doesn't have much storage space. My brother installed an IKEA vanity with drawers (no doors). It was far more functional than a standard vanity.

A quick search of houzz gave me a bunch of vanities similar to that one, but with drawers on the bottom if you would prefer closed storage. Not sure what your width constraint is, but you could add that to the search as well.

That tile is awesome. You could do a large hex tile on the floor to tie in with the accent strip. With the bathroom being so small, you don't have a ton of floor to cover, so you could probably get a nice tile and stay in your budget. I would tile the shower area, then paint the rest of the space a light color, white or light gray to keep it feeling airy.

Yes they have that vanity at Wayfair. Available in 4 colors including white and gray and it includes the sink and ceranmic top. The quality is not bad. I put one in a rental powder bath. Still looked good the last time I saw it.

Love the options in the comments. One suggestion is to get rid of the chair rail. It makes the bathroom look closed in. I'm not sure if that was already in your plans but I think that and a light color will open the room up a lot.

Yes we are getting rid of that moulding. The vanity I put up earlier was from the place Waynette Bailey suggested. Although I wish I had more storage, I feel like I need to stick with a 24" vanity just to make sure the bathroom feels bigger.

I think the Wayfair and Cabinets to go are the exact same thing and same price. I'd go with whichever has free shipping.

One other recommendation, a medicine cabinet would be great for additional storage.

I really like your inspiration photo and I'm sure you'll be able to source inexpensive tiles. You'll need around 90 sq. ft, including overage. Instead of pricey trim, an inexpensive schluter strip can edge the tile. Make sure the accent tile is the same thickness as the field tile, otherwise you'll need pencil pieces above and below the accent strip.

Oh ya the IKEA ones are nice because they have a shallower sink, so you get the full two drawers. I like this light gray one.

I have found 2 tiles that I really like that kind of match the vibe from the picture I posted above. I'm just torn because I have found two tiles one that is 12"x24" and 6"x24". Should I go for the bigger tile or smaller tiles?

Depends what you like. The 6x24 will give more of a plank look, like in your picture. The 12x24 will give more this look, which I prefer. It's a little cleaner, less busy. Plus it's cheaper.
