pantry shelving help

I'm looking for suggestions for depth and distance between pantry shelving. I know I want to start first shelf 20 inches from floor. The pantry is pretty narrow. I forgot to get the exact measurements. I know back wall is 11 feet across. I do not want the shelving to be on the left wall because we plan on building a small table for a kuerig. So shelving will go across that long wall and on the small wall on the right. Shelving is fixed and will be wood.

I would forget the shelving on the right. It looks to be only about 24-30" deep on that side. Just run the shelving across the back.

I was wondering if I should make that right wall a 15 inch depth set of shelves. I just realized the way they do shelving is they have styles so all the shelves have to be same depth but I think we can do deeper shelves on that right wall. The style is similar to this:

My pantry has 16" deep shelves on the lower part, and 12" deep shelves on top. The lower shelves on one wall are 15" apart to allow for cereal boxes, my giant stock pot etc. On the other wall the lowers are 15", 7", 7". The upper part has adjustable shelves, so the spacing varies.

oldbat2be, what are the dividers you've used? We are remodeling our new home and have a limited walk-in pantry. I was going to do the sections with lumber, but yours looks moveable. Thank you.

vinmarks, in our current home, I had the trim carpenter build-out the pantry to my specs. I measured tallest cereal box and went from there for the shelves. I had him build a table, based on an outdoor potting bench, for the microwave and other small appliances. Be sure to make yours deep enough for a landing space for groceries, etc. Here is my pantry. Doesn't look like it holds much, but the back/right shelves (over the HVAC return) are deep.

I agree with Allison. Measure your stuff. Cereal boxes, 2 liter bottles, small appliances, etc. and base the shelf placement on that. I think mine are (mostly) 14" clearance between shelves. Looks like a great space!

Thanks everyone. I did go around and measure many things. a majority of things I measured where under 12 inches. I think I'm going to do some different spacing between shelves. First shelf will be 20 inches off the floor. Next shelf will be 16 inch between then 13 then 10 and then 12's. I told carpenter to leave 24 inches between last shelf and ceiling. I think I am going to do 15 inch depth shelving on the right wall and it will have to have the same spacing as the long wall.

If you're a Costco shopper, don't forget their snack boxes are extra tall, and cartons of paper towels take up a lot of room, etc.

Thanks mtnmom. We are costco shoppers. We will probably only keep one bundle of paper towels in the pantry and extra bundles in our mechanical room downstairs.
