if its a cutting i would try soaking it for a few hours

even if's not a cutting, you can soak it by wrapping a plastic bag around the pot to hold the mix in - soak the whole thing with the pot too.

you can put paper towels or plastic grocery bags around the top to prevent mix from spilling - and tie up the plastic bag around that on top.

I accidentally left a 3" pot with hoya shepherdii totally dry for 2 weeks.

and after rehydrating for 3 hours in the sink it all sprang up and was ok.
