I wish mine were on different switches as I would like to control uppers separately. However, my lights under cabinets connected to same switch do have individual on/ off switches on the units though. However, personally I would like to keep lower under cab lights on at night more than upper. Maybe a personal preference.

Not a pro. Certainly it's fixable ... whether easily or not depends upon whether the interior walls are in place.

They'd still be on the same breaker/circuit but a single switch can be replaced with a double switch and a separate line could be run from the switch to the where the wiring divides to serve the separate group of lights.

Check all other lighting before calling the electrician, including the light switch to your stove hood, while you're at it so you would not need to call the electrician back for a third trip.

Sorry. Just tested turning off main switch. The on/off lower cab unit switch does turn off lower cab lighting but uppers are always on. :(

I have upper and lower on same switch, and didn't consider otherwise. I do want to put in a dimmer later though. The decision to put the lights on different switches is typically discussed much earlier during rough-in. It's possible to change it now, but will probably be messy and trigger a change order.
