Done buying fert's?

My super fall buying fert's are almost over, about 90%. I found a way to buy stuff at Walmart, go to a assistant manager and tell what you are willing to pay, not just a clerk, they can do nothing. I added 2 27lbs bags of Espoma(timed release fert) garden fert for $14.00 each, normally$ 29.00. now i have 3 bags, plus a bunch of smaller bags of citrus/avo. A bag Espoma holly(acidic) fert 27 lbs. No luck with H/D for 16 bags of Kellog garden soil, they would not give, try later.

I use Espoma early before i use Peters, this stuff have a lot of goodies in it. Treat them( tree's) like humans, today steak, tomorrow fish etc. maybe a little key-lime pie. I think i am good for a long time.

That is way too much fuss and bother! I just use Osmocote each spring and supplement with Dyna Gro liquid fert through summer and into the fall. I use the same method for ALL my containerized plants, indoor and out.

Different folks, different strokes, you do what you want to do. I like what i am doing and i am not telling anybody to do what i am doing. I am not a teacher either, besides there are a thousand different ways to grow stuff, your is just one, so is mine. You have good luck so am i. I don't go out my way buying this stuff, my wife buy groceries and what not and i am just a chauffeur, she goes one way and i go the other way.

I would never spend my time looking up the assistant manager at a Wal-Mart and ask for a deal. In fact I stay as far away from Wal-Mart as I possibly can. Life is to short for such a thing. I use Peters 25-5-15 w/TM year around.

Espoma Citrus Tone is a very good product; especially for those who want to stay "organic". A lot of the growers of my gift Meyers use Citrus Tone; but we find that for Meyers you have to use about 1.5 X the label recommendations.

I do what gardengal does. I try to keep my life as uncomplicated as possible. I, too stay away from Walmart and order fertilizers from Amazon to save time.

People that make small money have no choice to buy stuff from Walmart and that is why Walmart parking lots are allways filled. We got Amazon Prime, A.M Leonard and a few others. Maybe i partial to Walmart and Sam's because i live about 30 miles from their Headquarters and the stores that start them. They employ a ton of people, some of these people can not get a job anywhere else.

Ten percent of my tree's is devoted to citrus and spend a decent amount time to them. What i do with my fertilizers is not just for citrus. You guys don't even know how much i am growing.

    Bob,

"You guys don't even know..." indicates simple ignorance, for which there is a cure. Ignorance is always curable; but there is no cure for stupid.

Good score, and I hope you are able to get some deals at HD. Remember to use your HD garden club coupon if you do find something.

Maybe I have more competition here, because the garden clearance goes quick at my stores. A lot of stuff is only discounted only minimally, too. I wasn't able to get deals on amendments, but I got a few other goodies.

Gardengirl, i do understand that Espoma underfertilize citrus, because they are heavy feeders, especially nitro. When tree's starting to push they do not need strong stuff. Stored energy in the tree is sufficient for a short time that is where Espoma comes in.

Young tree's, the ones that are just bought will benefit and also my newly grafted tree's, they do not need strong stuff in a fact i even use Mater Magic, the small red jar that is expensive ($5.00) but i only paid a dollar for it on a couple of newly grafted tree's and they outpaced the others. I do experiment a lot, that is my nature.
