Should I go with a more grey based stained wood?

I love your cabinet and table! The cabinets are going to be beautiful. Is the lighting wonky or does that counter as peachy pink as it looks? I would be sure the quartz you choose has the lighter white of the cabinets in it or it will come out looking even more "not white" next to the cabinets. I like the first flooring picture better but it is awfully similar to your table. Will you have a rug? I feel like you need at least that much contrast and the tone is better.

mnmamax3 - The lighting in that room was awful. I had to keep taking pieces outside to see them better. I think that was a sample of Cambria Torquay, but I have been wavering between that and Cambria Ella. I will for sure choose a stone that goes with the cabinets better. Also, we will have custom cabinets and not that sample in the pic...

I agree about the contrast. Wondering about a grey... But will it be dated before we even get the house finished?

That's pretty too, but like Kevin said, when it's all rustic, it's hard to really appreciate either. And Cambria with a lot of movement will compete with floors that have a lot of movement. Then you have the stone too - is that very consistent or varied as well? Use Houzz to find pictures of the elements you know (grey stone fireplace with wood tile floors, for example) and see what look you like and don't.

Who you say your cabinets will be custom, does that mean you can pick any color? You need to get all these elements in your space if possible or in natural lighting to see how they work together.

Nothing too rustic or distressed. Lighter- whitewashed, or darker--- brushed oak light grain, could work with your furniture. Some examples for you.

The thing about gray washed wood is that in less than 5 years it's going to look super dated IMO. A natural stain meanwhile is timeless. And picking flooring based on furniture pieces is silly because it's such a large purchase and those can easily be swapped out or have rugs put under them.

Agreed, but maybe 10 years. Surprisingly, I get a lot of folks choosing naturals or traditional stains. However they're over 50 years in age for the most part. Seems they've been down the path of chasing trends in younger years or previous homes.

But, the choice is what you like. Decorators tend like the wow look.
