bathroom remodel

last modified: 8 years ago

My bathroom is appx 9x11. the wall that will have the vanity is 71 inches. I am considering the charlotte vanity available from Houzz. My question is what would be better..

1) centering a 48 inch vanity which would leave appx 12 inches on each side

2) put vanity on the first 48 inches and then put a shelving unit in the space that is left

3) 60 inch vanity which would provide more counterspace.

This will be a vanity with a single sink by the way

Neither. And NOT that vanity, for sure. You need a built in vanity. Go to a kitchen showroom.

    why a built in?

Less cleaning. Better utilization of space. Millions more choices. Not made in China.

why the farmhouse sink choice?? Just do a regular sink. save the farmhouse sink for the farmhouse kitchen.

What kind of floor are you doing?

regardless, pick the 60" vanity. Personally, I like RH vanities in the natural wood choices. You can get them without the top and get your own, after market. often it's cheap because you can use a remnant piece of whatever you want. The sink does come w/their vanities though.

I would also look at doing a built in. Wall to wall, no wasted space on each side, nothing to clean under.

Maybe you have a house cleaner, I don't know. I sorta hate it when people say "I don't like this because I think about having to clean it". But that vanity looks like a real PITA to clean around especially the floor under those slatted shelves.

I have a 48" vanity with 6 inches on either side and I wish I had done the 60" vanity. The 6" just gathers all the dust and is hard to clean. More storage and counter space is always better. If you go with the shorter one get some matching shelves for sure.

a nice custom floating wood vanity would be a great choice

Why not the farmhouse sink..I like that it is larger

It’s gawdawful is why. Something that you will want to rip out next week. That fad is (thankfully) over for kitchens and never began at all for bathrooms. It’s just a bad fad.

I don't think farmhouse sinks are a bad fad, do what you feel is best for you as you will be using it daily. Farmhouse sinks have been around since the 17th century and not a new thing, they were used for their durability, size and convenience.

If you love that sink....I do...get it! Back to your question....I like the cabinet on the side. Do not leave gaps on either side of the sink. Houses need lots of storage.

I'm in Colorado. Farm house sinks are still considered "cool". I don't like ready made granite counters that are too thin. 3cm granite is all I use. This one looks very beefy! Your going to LOVE it....it'll be a statement piece.

I don't care for farmhouse sinks but what I tell my clients: Go with what you love, unless you're going to sell in the next five years.

I agree with Beth and it's exactly what I did! I purchased an RH vanity without the top, went to my local stone yard and chose a Calcutta marble that was a steal!

aibdesigns,,,so did I. but I got Super White! like your lighting.

MARY<,,the built in tower is a great feature. I'd hate to lose that if you have no other place for storage in the bathroom. Many place have towers along w/their vanities. If you can't find the correct dimensions to fit, consider making a custom tower for the corner. Even if it's a little narrower, it's still worth it. I have the matching tower to my vanity in the opposing corner.

Looks great Beth! I love the hardware and that side stained glass window is gorgeous! I had my husband run lighting under the vanity to illuminate the floor.
