I need help picking flooring for livingroom/kitchen..go dark or light

We are in a home with an open floor plan. The livingroom drifts right into the kitchen and we need to select a color hardwood. I feel like the area is to small for dark wood which is what we had before but I am nervous about going lighter I need help.

If you are in the fortunate situation that it's one selection for the whole area just get what you like. When the 2 areas end up not matching, that is what makes the space look smaller...the discrepancy/ contrasts. Just get what you like.

I prefer a light to medium medium tone and I like it to look warm. Dark floors show everything.

Go medium! I have always had my floor guys custom mix a mixture of walnut and cherry to get a warm, medium tone. They can play around and get just what you want. Medium is timeless!!!
