But the real determinant of the width is the size of the room and if there are any other pieces of furniture in the room. I would say that you want at least 30 inches from the edge of the table to any piece of furniture or wall in the room. - Oliver

Also, is there a standard length for this table and then it would be considered a leaf to get to the maximum size you would want? what is the most common size (standard size ordered)? and what length looks the best at 42 inches wide? Sorry for all the question, just trying to narrow it down to what size I would want. Thanks!

Our room as of right now is 13 feet by 14 feet.. so I think the 84inch would be good and then get a leaf extension? Marie
