Obviously your counter top will need to include some brown or at least beige. With that active a floor I suggest that your counter top be very subdued or even a solid color quartz or Corian.

I agree....more bang for your buck if you remove the floor. Cambria Snowdon White Quartz....if you keep the floor.

I agree the floor is the challenge here. Are the cabinets in good shape? If so, how about changing the floor and keeping the cabinets? You can also paint island cabinets for contrast with the cabinets along walls.

Replacing your counter with quartz will cost around $5K. How many square feet of flooring is there? Depending on what you pick to replace, it will likely be less to replace floors than counter.

Also, not sure if this has been mentioned, but a counter-depth fridge would serve you well in this space.

The floor should be addressed; it is way too busy. Find a granite you love and then select a coordinating floor. Choose large 12"x 24" or 24" square porcelain tiles-will make the room look more spacious.

Also, add trim to the soffit area above cabs and paint it same as cabs.

Counter-depth fridge would be nice too.

and industrial or partly wood stools, etc..

spending all that money on quartz while keeping those cabs (even if you paint them) and that floor, is a waste. What is currently on the countertops?

are you living in this house, doing it for someone else, or flipping it?

pick a creamy white, not a bright white

if you really want to spend the money for quartz (any of the granites are going to be too busy unless you luck out and find a creamy white one w/ minimum veining)

NO LAMINATE!! That stuff is awful, especially in a kitchen. It warps when exposed to water and sounds hollow and plastick-y when you walk on it.

I'd go with either solid or engineered wood with white cabinets. It's a beautiful, classic look, and if the wood is finished properly, it's not difficult to maintain. I just sweep mine and clean it with Bona floor cleaner.

We do recommend changing the flooring. You might find you love the kitchen and don't need to change much of anything else after you do so.

Oh gosh, I'd remove that floor in a heartbeat and wait to paint the cabinets until later, or not at all. Put in a real wood floor (or engineered depending on what it meets up with). Then I'd suggest either leaving the cabinets as is, or painting them ivory with white countertops. If cabinets are to be really bright white, you could do a tan or even black countertop. It's the floor that would make me crazy. Oh, and the idea of using a counter-depth frig is good too!
