I have a cast stone fireplace that I would like to paint a lighter color without destroying its slightly pitted surface. The current color is a bit dingy and I think the fireplace would stand out more and harmonize with the rest of the room if it were lighter. I am thinking of a color similar to ivory travertine. What is the best type of paint and the best method to paint the fireplace to make it lighter without destroying its character? Than you for any advice you can provide.
