I think it should be black since it is the same material as the fencing material in the front of the property (unless you are open to changing the color of the front fence as well?)

What material is along the side wall (next to the driver's side door)? Is that also metal fencing or a stone wall?

That is a lot of black! I'd be more inclined to bronze or even a coppery tone to pick up on the red pavers and roof tiles.

I would keep the fence light.

i agree with a less dramatic color than black: pick up one of the natural hues in the surrounding landscape. bronze, or even the color of the palm bark. make it disappear.

the metal gate works in black, i think, because the rails are so fine in the grand scheme, that they nearly disappear.

I had them white for 12 years and have just painted the house from two tones (separated by keystone) so basically whole new look. No light fences here.

I like the copper tone in the 2nd picture that @decoenthusiaste posted very much.

I vote for a rusted look or bronzed look with an aged patina finish

Still don't know what to do. Just trying to envision those big doors on either sides of the house in black frighten me lol I'm may be considering just painting them my trim color SW Sable on them and getting this over with. If not I'll paint them the house color SW Colonial Revival. My inspiration for the house colors was this pic:
