Which wooden floor?

Hi All,

I am in the process of refurbishing my flat (Victorian maisonette in London) and I cannot make up my mind about which wooden floor I should go for.

My heart is set on a white color (bleached oak, whitewashed Douglas fir just to give you some examples) to achieve a sort of Scandi look but I have read that with time they tend to become yellow and this is something I really don't like. Anyone can share any experience on this?

I am having a look to other essences as I like also brown-chocolate colors so I found out about Morado and American Walnut: the former is way too expensive (circa £190 m2) so the latter seems to be the only option remaining. I know that this is a very soft wood but I don't particularly care about dents and scratches but I do care about it making a room feel smaller as my flat is not big and, in particular, the ceiling are low. Any thoughts about it? Would using walnut make the rooms appear smaller and shorter?

thanks,
