I like the smaller tiles sample. And whoever told you that cool gray doesn’t go with warm wood tones!? I think your kitchen looks balanced and beautiful!

As for the two backsplash tiles, I prefer the smaller one. The color of the larger tile looks a bit dingy, and I think I'm a bit tired of 3x6 or 3x8 white subways in general. I'd look for a light-med gray to match a gray from your counter.

Or even a taupe to tie in the gray and the brown

I just got my new quartz countertops, and had husband put in the backsplash, it's interlocking subway tiles, and the grout is very light grey, called Silverado, both tiles and grout were from Menards, the colors offset the oaky color that nobody seems to be dokey about these days!!

I disagree about a type of mosaic tile as opposed to plain old subway ( I think plain white 3x6 subway is so overdone, I can't stand it anymore!). you have to choose the right mosaic in the right size and color. I'll show you some

i don't care for that shade of the last tile on the right. if you want gray, then pick a warmer, darker gray or a shade of blue, with a tad gray hue.

i do like the white and don't think any type of mosaic will be too busy.

if you must have subways, do a longer one. 2x8 or 3x12

Here's some from fireclay tile done in a vertical . looks nice and it's different. these are 2x6 or 2x8's

or something like these from CleTiles. these come in diff sizes. Weathered White, glazed terra cotta. they have some beautiful blues and grays as well

a white arabesque would work,,and w/the tan grout, brings in your wood.

herringbone? do these in any white material (this is thassos) or any size.

The amount of gray you have is minimal and also has warm tones weaved in. Also, areas of white help blend the two together as in the kitchen below.

The larger format tile will have fewer grout lines and will be less busy if you use a contrasting grout, but I think any of those tiles will work. When the tile has been installed, but before it is grouted, there will be an illusion of contrasting grout. You can look at it and decide whether you like the contrast or not or want contrast but more on the lighter gray side.

I found this but thought it would be to busy and more grout lines. I saw in the saw, but don't have a photo the exact same one without the stainless steel, so all white. I am sooooo lost at this point!

if you want the bars, pick an all marble or all white glass. that particular style you have is really on the 'outs'.

this is Grecian marble split faced honed. lowes or HD has this. I actually like this one a lot if the white blends well w/your counter.

this one is also a grecian split face, but it's a lot smaller and rougher (like a 3D effect) than the example tile I showed. this gives you an idea of coloring

the key to the glass bars w/a pattern countertop, is to keep the glass all one color. see the pic:

notice the modern handles that compliment the horizontal look. if you want more of a modern look, do something like that.

which style was on outs, the larger rectangular or the smaller mosaics? I liked the all white glass, or the one you said you got at lowes. how do you think the one I posted earlier, small rectangular white mosaic glass with stainless steel, BUT without stainless steel. I saw it all in white.

all white in the shape like you posted? meh. I think you could pick something better. the one w/the stainless steel is on the outs and really doesn't look all that great installed.
