Flooring Design Dilemma

Help with curtains and rug choice

Have to work with paneling and this ugly floor. Thinking embrace it and do a cabin theme but with a patterned floor do I have to stick with solid rug and curtains or could I do southwestern style prints?

You could for sure use SW colors but in plain chices and IMO the plaid has to go . A nice leather sofa in a soft green would work well. If you are keeping the pannelling then some large lighter art work to break up all the wood.Lamps for sure and maybe a cowhide rug for a bit of fun.

I think you should paint the wood paneled walls a neutral color and either stick with a solid gray shag rug or a muted multicolored rug that’s mostly light gray with hints of maroon.

After seeing the multicolored rug... I take that idea back... unless it’s very muted and less of a pattern.

Since the paneling and flooring are staying as is, I would suggest light-colored solids for both the window treatments and rug. The space is dark and both the plaid sofa and flooring are busier patterns so I think adding a Southwestern print would be a little much.
