We are remodeling our kitchen and currently have a bead board ceiling with thick soffits. Our contractor told us we most likely would not be able to salvage the ceiling since we are putting in an island hood vent. We also want to add some extra pendants above the island. The bead board is over 30 years old so they don't make the same kind anymore. Anyone have an ideas on how to save it? Can he cut a big square out of it for over the island? I attached a copy pics of the ceiling and soffits.
