My new, expensive, shades were delivered yesterday and a strong vinyl or plastic odor with them. The installers placed 4 still rolled up shades on the floor of a bedroom and closed the door. When I opened the door a half hour later, the odor, similar to a paint smell, was huge.

There is no order on the samples from which I ordered the blinds.

Do all shades smell like this? Is the gas or smell given off by the shades dangerous?

After all $15,000 of shades were brought into the house the installers discovered the brackets were incorrect. They packed up, took the shade with them saying they will reschedule.

Tell me, please. Do all roller shades have this problem? Will it be dangerous to have these blinds in my house? Do some vinyl products emit more or less gas than others? My house is very contemporary. I like the simplicity of shades.
