Miele Combi Convection Steam Oven

All...I'm in the process of buying new appliances for the new house and am in a bit of quandary about oven. Was just going to go with a combination of wall-microwave and traditional oven. Came across the Miele (XXL) combi, which seems very interesting. However, at $5k, not sure if its' worth. Anyone has one? Are there other good alternative? I'm aware of the one from Wolf. Thanks.

Thanks much, DrB477. I'm leaning toward a one-oven solution, hence the XXL version.

Love mine, use it 99% of the time over the other oven which is a conventional convection oven.

Love, love, love my Gaggenau combi.

sherri1058...thanks much. I'm also considering Bertazzoni. Although I enjoy cooking, I travel a lot for work. Not sure I can derive enough value from a Gaggenau/Miele. :)

I just ordered the XXL Miele combi-steam for our remodel. I can't wait! My 'main' oven is a 36" BlueStar gas range but I suspect the Miele will be my go to oven. The cleaning sounds like it can be a bit of a pain but the cooking results hopefully make it worth the elbow grease.

Also just ordered the Miele XXL CSO. From my research, it was highly suggested that you get the plumbed version. I changed my kitchen design to move the steam oven to my island next to the sink, where it will have a plumbed water supply and drain.

Hi Ken, I just bought The Bertazzoni 30 double convection oven for my new kitchen. It’s wonderful, very high quality and performs beautifully. I also ended up with the Thermador steam oven. I’m still getting used to using it, but it’s really wonderful too. If you’re going to combine all these appliances, consider the Miele because it also has a broiler (although I rarely use the broiler). The Miele is 24” as is the Thermador (and Bosch), so you’d have to buy trim to fit in a 30” opening. The Bertazzoni steam oven is only offered in 30” and the Wolf And Gaggenau offerings are both 24 and 30”. I didn’t care for the Bertazzoni water reservoir, so I suggest you actually go and see them in person and make sure they’re not awkward for you to use. If you don’t need the broiler function, the Thermador is just fine and you can get a 14 lb turkey in it. I didn’t like the Bosch version and normally I’m a huge Bosch fan (800 series dishwasher and compact laundry). I hope this helps you decide.

I also ordered the plumbed version. My island was plumbed for the water & drain yesterday!

    Hi Ken,

I'm considering getting the Miele sensortronic steam oven (XL) and the sensortronic convection oven. Did you end up getting the steam oven? If so, how do you like it? I'm not sure if it's worth the cost, especially considering how small it is.

Jay...sorry for the late response. I did get the regular, not XL, steam oven recently. I've used it a few times (e.g. cooking fish, reheating ribs) and so far really like it. The reheated ribs are so moist. The only issue I've experienced is the water pump did not drain water well and had to be replaced. Hopeful that's just a one-off issue. Thought about getting the XL, but just didn't think it's worth the extra cost to me, FWIW. Good luck.
