Sophie, yes! I restored an 1889 Victorian and my favorite part was revealing the beautiful plaster and patching it. The house I am prepping for sale has sand texture in the paint, which is an abomination. I adore a flat wall!

I'd probably get the lodge feeling another way--your ceiling is really nice! And popcorn way up high is a good thing. It reduces echoes. And nobody touches it! Surely it can be painted?

Unless a ceiling is low or there are helium balloons. popcorn is cool!
