Greetings - thank you for your inquiry! It does not require nor does it have a topcoat with it. Some people opt to paint on their own topcoat. You may do this as well, however, it will void your warranty as we do not know how our paint will react to it. If your cabinets are cleaned/prepped properly and then left to cure, they remain very durable. The finish is a nice satin. Please let us know if we can assist further. Thank you.
