Wow, great job and beautiful room! A blank slate. Before you decide on window treatments, what is your preferred style for the room? Do you have furniture or a rug yet? And what do you want out of window treatments--privacy, light control, etc? Budget?

This is adecision based on what your style is , your furniture , colors in rest of the main living areas, art you might own. All that we need to even begin to make suggestions.BTW your light is hung too high

What's your favorite color? I'd add that to the room in the drapery fabric and use it as an accent color in the art and table dressing. Here they used coral against the neutral backdrop.

One where they kept the whole color scheme neutral.

But note how the color scheme is used throughout each room...the rug, the upholstery, the drapes, the art, the table dressing.

Some are more soothing, some more vibrant. Think about the mood you want to set.

Once you pick a color scheme...or flip through houzz and find an inspiration room, it will help guide your decisions.

Thanks everyone. I tend towards blues and grays and like to keep things soothing as opposed to vibrant. Those pics really help, all so beautiful. And the light fixture is too high, still hooked up from when I was working in there lol. Thanks all of u.

I'll post another pic with the furniture in. Dont have a rug yet. I do want floor to ceiling drapes just don't care for grommets. I appreciate all the advice. Thanks again.

Beautiful room! I would pick your rug first. The safe choice is panels close to the wall color. But it would look lovely to tie together your rug and curtains with a pretty color.

Full-length drapery panels and change the light fixture. All you light is directed up and when you set a table it's a good idea to have light focused on the food and table setting below unless you select a candle-style fixture. Your fixture is more appropriate for a kitchen IMO.

Thanks for the light fixture info! We will be changing it out eventually. And I so wish I had tall ceilings cuz I'd definitely be doing something along the lines of that 2nd pic. Also good idea with picking the rug. I got a lot of shopping to do!!

Beverly and I disagree on lighting at the dining table. I find unless it is dimmable, downward shining lights will tend to wash out food colors and cast ugly hair and nose shadows on diners' faces. What you want, I think, is subtle and adjustable lighting. I prefer light to wash the ceiling, adding candles to highlight the food and people. I don't think candles would be unheard of in a formal dining room. Here's a good guideline on curtains.

I do like using candles and my current fixture is dimmable. I will hang my drapes like the Do in the pic u sent. That's how my other drapes in the house are hung. Appreciate u. Thanks
