I wonder... Do you have to tear out your wall to fix or replace any plumbing that would otherwise be easy to do with a sink mounted fixture?

It's been nearly two years, the remodel is finished, and I forgot that I had posted this question way back in the planning stages! Now I can add to the comments myself by saying that I got the wall-mount faucet and a vessel sink, and I love them both. I had to reduce the flow of water by slightly turning the shutoff valves, otherwise it would definitely splash out of the sink. The faucet is built into a mirror, a very popular, modern design, but I was told by the contractor that the mirror could break if the faucet is ever removed. The shutoff valves had to be put in the attic above the bathroom, not ideal for some reason I don't remember,had to be done that way. I obviously took some risks for the sake of design, but it's a powder room that is not used a lot, so I likely (hopefully!) won't need to replace anything or have problems for a long time. I would not have the same setup in my master bath. A wall-mounted faucet is not a problem, but I would not mount it into a mirror in a bath that's used daily. Especially if the mirror is really big, and an expensive pain to replace. Having the shutoff valves under the sink is much more convenient, though they are almost never used.

Water lines in the attic?

@tim45z10 That's about the only place I'd say they would be able to be located if on a second floor or home without basement or crawlspace because wall mounted fixtures have the plumbing running through a wall (from what I can tell)... So, in lieu of having some special door cut into the wall to place shut off valves, one might place them in an attic.... Personally, I do love the look but don't think I'm willing to take the chance of a water leak taking place within a wall (or attic) where it's not easily detectable nor reachable. That said, there are plenty of pipes that leak into the crawlspaces of homes or ceilings of basements that too cause a wreck..... So, I suppose it's really up to the individual to weigh any pro's / con's....
