Got A new Violet Picture

Well one of my 'Playful Spectrum' violets, finally bloomed again. Been a month or more since it bloomed. I saw it this morning, and posted it in the Fla. Garden forum and here. THIS is why I LOVE fantasy bloomers!

Interesting sport - may be even chimera - but I think thumbprint... I tried Playful Spectrum from a leaf last year - none of the progeny bloomed true - and none of them was as pretty as yours.

It is an extremely variable variety - each blossom is different. But on yours white is missing... leaves are way too wavy.. It is possible to get white back on further blooms,

Playful Spectrum (P. Sorano) Single-semidouble white fluted star/blue fantasy, wide lavender-pink band. Medium green. Standard

Well i like it as it is. It is under my grow lights, the leaves arestiff and the wavy part came from the lights to. I need to raise the lights i think. But I like the flower I get from it. Thus the reason I LOVE fantasy blooms. Don't care if they match what they are suppose to be, as long as there are several colors in 1 bloom:) But not a perfect 'bi-color', that isnt a fantasy bloom. But I love the 'Space Violets' That bi-color is pretty. Got to get those.

I do not think you will like Space Violets that much. They will be on a boring side for you. Flowers are on a small side, plant is on a large, one plant will take half of your Aerogrow space. They are quite floriferous and make a nice presentation, but WOW factor is not that high.

I use to ave 3 of them, I love them, I want to get 'EverGrace' and 'EverSpecial'. they are plenty pretty enough for me. Thee can grow in natural light on my window sills.

I agree with Irina on the Space Violets. I had two or three of them a while back. Now I have none. They were all gifted to persons who had more room to keep them than I did. Just not remarkable enough to earn a spot on my (high value) plant shelf real estate.

If they do well on the windowsill - it is great. Not all AVs do.

I love fantasy bloomers also! I remember back in the day one of the first I had was "Inky Pink"!!!! It is still one of my Vintage Favorites that I would love to have again and am looking for it.

Never had Playful Spectrum, it IS on the WISH LIST. Very pretty as it is, Anymore would be a bonus! Rosie

Playful Spectrum should be propagated like chimera - from suckers. It is a gorgeous variety - but it doesn't comes true from leaves..or very rarely... So - if you go to Ann Arbor AV sale - and see one in bloom - grab it. Eventually the plant will grow big, you will lop and reroot the crown and keep the stump with several leaves growing - and it will be a sucker mama for all of is.
